The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Dan Botwe has refuted allegations made by the NDC that his party spent an amount of 10 billion cedis on the campaign towards the Navrongo Central Election.
Mr Dan Botwe said the NPP did not spend more than ?400 million in its campaign towards the election. Instead he said it would have served the NDC better if it minded its own business rather than peeping their eyes into how much the NPP had spent on an election. He stated categorically that the NPP did not buy votes not influence anybody in Navrongo or at other previous constituencies but rather the people voted for the party?s candidate to win with a large margin because of the trust they have in its administration.
Mr Dan Botwe made these remarks in an interview with the Free Press at Nyanyano in the Gomoa East Constituency. He emphasised that the numerous bye-elections were yielding positive results for the New Patriotic Party.
According to him, the various regional and constituency branch executives of the party are leaning from the bye-election as it serves as mock exams for the 2004 general elections. He was sure that come 2004 the NPP would win at least 140 seats in parliament.
It may be recalled that the Free Press in it last publication carried in its banner story an allegation by the General Secretary of the NDC accusing the New Patriotic Party of spending a whooping 10 billion cedis on the recent Navrongo Central bye-elections in which NDC lost heavily to their opponent in government
