NPP denies planning counter demonstration

Accra, Feb.28, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday denied ever planning any demonstration tomorrow (Tuesday) to counter a similar one the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its affiliates wanted to embark on. The NPP said reports in a section of the media that it was planning a counter demonstration were false.

A statement Mr Harona Esseku, National Chairman of NPP signed in Accra said; “The party wishes to put on record that the reports are false and that the party has at no time contemplated holding a counter-demonstration tomorrow.” It said the party was therefore, requesting the police to arrest and deal appropriately with anybody found wearing NPP T-shirt or displaying the party’s paraphernalia during the NDC demonstration.

The statement said that has become necessary, “since it has become incurably clear that people bent on causing mischief would want to dress in NPP colours to give the Party a bad name.”
