NPP crisis: I’ll bounce back – Sir John

One-time General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as ‘Sir John’ has served notice he will bounce back in the face of the crisis bedeviling the party.

Sir John has been accused of being behind the brouhaha calling for the resignation of the incumbent general secretary Kwabena Agyepong following the death of the party’s Upper East regional chairman Adams Mahama.

Mahama was acid-attacked last Wednesday and died subsequently at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital. There is a general uproar flowing through the party as incensed supporters call for the resignation of the national chairman Paul Afoko too.

The Council of Elders of the party and the Minority MPs have called on the two to step aside pending investigations.

“I’ll bounce back,” Sir John said on the Starr Chat with Bola Ray when he was called in to interact with his contemporary from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

“He has a sense of humour which is fantastic. Sometimes you’ll think he’s being mischievous but he is not. He is so clever about the way he does his things,” Sir John said about Nketia.

When the in-studio guest asked him life outside party executive position, Sir John explained: “It gives you some peace of mind.”
