NPP Cow Disappears

Tension is mounting among NPP members in the Dambai constituency after a fat cow donated to the constituency for the celebration of their 10th anniversary disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

The cow was donated to the Krachie district branch of the party by a certain Mohammed Alimi Ajao, a prominent businessman who defected from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to join the NPP in February this year.

Alimi Ajao has sent a strong warning to the person in possession of his cow to return it, and has threatened a court action if his warning is not heeded oberving “as far as my character is concerned, I’m greatly embarrassed to have my name dragged into such controversy, when I acted with good intentions”, he told Daily Guide at Dambai on September 29.

He noted that it has been seven months since he last saw his cow, after announcing his defection from the NDC admitting, “this may erode my trust and confidence in party officials in the district”.

According to Mohammed Alimi Ajao, he gave the cow to the NPP as a declaration of his loyalty and support for the party. He denied that he had been a staunch supporter of the NDC, claiming that he never held a party card, and was only a casual sympathiser from 1992-2000.

Mr J. Padmore Essel, founding father of the NPP in the Krachie district confirmed the disappearance of the cow and disclosed that the case has been reported to the Dambai Police.

He affirmed that the issue is creating tension amongst the youth who have vowed to get to the bottom of the issue, and find the person who stole the cow.

The Dambai Police, on their part, confirmed receiving the report and assured all and sundry that they are investigating.

Daily Guide learnt that the cow was deposited with Mr Thaddeus K. Kuna, Krachie constituency organiser of the NPP. Thereafter, according to Mr Boakye Kwadwo Benjamin, the vice chairman of the party, the cow was sent to a certain Naguie for safe keeping until the anniversary day.

Thereafter the cow vanishes Kuna is reported to be assisting the police with the investigations.

Related developments gathered by Daily Guide claimed that other persons are defecting from the NDC to join the NPP in the constituency, and party officials recorded that at least 200 people have joined them between January and May this year.

Some of the defectors, they pointed out had donated bags of rice, and cash sums of money to the party.

Alimi Ajao told this reporter that they are compelled to leave the NDC to join the NPP, because of the development projects going on in the district.

He cited the Volta River Authority (VRA) town settlement electrification project going on. He also stated that the out-gone NDC government failed to provide pipe- borne water for the people. They drink from the White Volta, he claimed.

Also lacking in the district, according to him was public places of convenience a hospital, a market complex, good schools and motorable roads. Posted
