NPP council of elders kick against chairman as DCE

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders in the Ahafo Ano North District in the Ashanti Region have petitioned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo against nomination of the party’s constituency chairman , Joseph Agyemang Dapaah for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position.

“We the Council of Elders petition are against the nomination of Joseph Agyemang Dapaah, the constituency chairman Ahafo Ano South for the DCE position”, they said

In a petition to President Nana Akufo-Addo, they claimed chairman has number of times misconducted himself which led the regional executives to suspend him before the 2016 polls.

According to their petition, the chairman swore that he can never work with the the flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo even when he [Nana Addo ] becomes President.

Mr. Joseph Agyemang Dapaah who was said to be a strong authority in the camp of John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, the current Trade and Industry Minister is alleged to have sold Tata Truck donated by the minister to the party in the constituency.

The petition is also accusing the chairman of selling a piece of land belonging to the party on his own personal accord and further accused of taking a tree plantation contract during former President Kufour’s regime but never carried it though he was paid for.

“The NPP chairman lacks academic qualification to hold any appointment in government since he cannot read and write well. Your Excellency, we want to bring to your notice that Hon.

Joseph Agyemang Dapaah lacks accountability, he is arrogant divisive and does not have the requisite skills to hold the DCEship position”, they indicated.

The Chairman has however denied the claims indicating that some persons within the party are trying to use the elders to fuel divisions within the party.
