NPP chaos: I’m focusing on the bigger picture – Agyepong

The embattled general secretary of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyepong has said he will like to focus on helping the party win the 2016 elections, despite the confusion that has engulfed the party.

Agyepong who is perceived as an ally of the party’s suspended national chairman Paul Afoko is likely to face the disciplinary committee of the elephant family following a petition brought against him by some party members.

He is on record to have described the suspension of his boss by the National Executive Committee (NEC) as illegal and improper.

The National Council of the NPP on Thursday affirmed the decision of the NEC to suspend Mr. Afoko indefinitely, a development which is believed to have deepened the cracks in the party as Afoko has hinted of his intentions to seek redress in court.

In a Facebook post Friday, the former presidential press secretary said a visit to his house by a stalwart of the party JH Mensah is helping him refocus his priorities.

“Just received another visit from the venerable JH Mensah, a true stalwart of our tradition. His wise counsel words of inspiration and encouragement will help me focus on the big picture winning election 2016 and redeeming the long suffering people of our dear country. Together we shall rise again,” he wrote.
