NPP Chairman Sues BNI And Attorney General

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Sammy Crabbe is asking the Human Right Division of the High Court to restrain the BNI and the Attorney General from denying him or any citizen of Ghana the right to a lawyer during the so called BNI invitation.

He is also asking the court to declare that its unconstitutional ,unlawful, and breach of fundamental human rights guaranteed under the 1992 constitution of Ghana to deny or refuse any citizen of Ghana during an arrest, detention or restriction which the BNI term as invitation.

The case slated for hearing on 15th of next month follows Mr. Sammy Crabbe invitation by the BNI on the 11th of this month during which his lawyer was prevented from the meeting. He said unless the court restrained the BNI his right will continue to be violated BNI in contravention of the 1992 constitution by denying him the right to lawyer and compelling him to report their office without disclosing the re4ason for the invitation.
