NPP Chair: We are not selecting candidates for 45 new constituencies

The Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has flatly denied reports that the party is clandestinely selecting candidates for the yet to be actualized constituencies in the region.

Frederick F. Antoh described the reports as fictitious and barbaric, and urged the public to treat it with the contempt it deserve.

The NDC Ashanti Regional Secretary, Joseph Yammin, on Monday alleged that despite the NPP’s criticism of the NDC primaries in the proposed 45 new constituencies, the party is also secretly electing candidates.

“There can’t be any secrecy in this situation because if you want to conduct constituency primaries, you have to put up notices like the NDC did so that those who are interested will apply to become candidates for those constituencies”, Mr. Antoh added.

He continued: “… the EC haven’t created any constituencies. Yammin is a liar because we haven’t put up notices for people to apply. If Yammin is saying so, it is a figment of his own imagination and there is no truth in it.”
