NPP Candidate Introduced To Muslims

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Mfantseman West in 2004 general elections, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng has exhorted Moslems to use the Ramadan fasting to pray for God’s guidance to elect dedicated persons in next year’s general elections. They should also pray for peaceful electioneering campaign and conduct of the elections.

Mr. Asamoah Boateng, a Deputy Minister for Information, made the call when he and Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive for Mfantseman were introduced to Moslem communities at Saltpond and Mankessim last Friday.

Mr. Asamoah-Boateng, who is also the NPP parliamentary candidate for Mfantseman-West constituency, urged all religious groups to campaign for political and religious tolerance to ensure that the peace the nation was enjoying was not disturbed, reminding them that without peace they could not serve their creator diligently.

Mr. Quainoo-Arthur commended Moslems for their contributions towards development of the nation and advised them to encourage their children to acquire secular education to enable them fit into the job market.

Alhaji Malam Issaka, Chief Imam of Mankessim, commended President J. A. Kufuor for his humility and advised Ministers and MPs to copy him. He admonished people in authority, especially politicians not to forget people who had made it possible for them to rise to such positions.

Alhaji M.B. Bibrine, Central Regional Organiser of the NPP who introduced the two personalities, asked for the cooperation of Moslems in the discharge of their duties. In another development, the NPP and the Mfantseman District Assembly have donated some bags of sugar to the Moslem community at Mankessim towards the Ramadan fasting.
