NPP ballots printed – Agyepong

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) appears ready for Sunday’s Special Electoral College (SEC), which is to vote out two candidates from contesting October’s presidential primary.

Printing of ballots has been done while the police has assured of adequate security at the various polling stations, said the General Secretary of the Party.

Kwabena Agyei Agyepong was speaking to TV3’s Kenneth Osei Ampofo on Wednesday, August 27 when he made the above known.

“We asked every presidential candidate to have a representative at the printing house that printed the ballot papers,” he said.

Seven members including former flagbearer Nana Addo Akufo-Addo picked forms to contest the party’s leadership position.

But as the party’s constitution demands, that number would have to be pruned down to five for the presidential primary scheduled for October 18.

In all, 780 delegates are expected to participate in Sunday’s special elections while 11 polling stations will be set up – one in each regional capital and an additional one at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra.

Ashanti Region will have the highest number of delegates, 133 while the Upper West Region will have the lowest, 32, according to Mr Agyepong.

“We have sent out the operational instructions to all regional chairmen,” he indicated.
