NPP aspirant calls for decent political conduct

An appeal has been made to parliamentary aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure a clean and decent political conduct to foster unity and harmony in the party.

Mr Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, a leading member of the party in the Suame Constituency, said it is impolitic to malign and run down opponents in a desperate bid to get the votes of delegates.

He condemned what he said is the smear campaign against the Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, by some of some contestants.

That, he said, is totally unacceptable, unhealthy and needs to stop.

Mr Boakye said those who are bent on unseating Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu should do the right thing by telling the people their strong points – what they would be doing differently.

Resorting to insults and insinuations could stir internal trouble and hurt the party’s electoral fortunes, he said.

“Of what benefit will it be if as a political party we begin to fight amongst ourselves all in the name of internal elections,” Mr Boakye queried.

A statement issued in Kumasi on Monday, and copied to Ghana News Agency urged all to rise above pettiness, personal ego and focus their efforts on bringing NPP back to power to restore hope to Ghanaians.

“We need each other to win the 2016 elections”, he said, adding that the NPP could not afford to disappoint the people.
