Kumasi, April 1, GNA – A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Joseph Amoah has tasked parliamentary aspirants to endeavour to abide by the party’s code of ethics in their activities.
Mr Amoah said they should resolve to let their campaigns be devoid of insults, lies, defamation of character and acts that could derail the NPP’s focus of chalking a landslide victory in the 2008 elections. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Tuesday, the NPP activist said the party had come a long way in its political strides and aspirations and that it behoved on supporters to be committed to consolidating the party’s political and socio-economic gains to benefit the nation.
Mr Amoah, 49, who has filed his nomination to contest for the Suame Constituency parliamentary seat of the NPP promised to modify the party’s internal structures and mechanism to make them more functional if given the nod.
This, he said, was necessary in view of the party’s belief and adherence to internal democracy, adding that the party stood a better chance of retaining the Suame seat if they did their homework well. Mr Amoah, a businessman, stated that he also would source for funds to train the youth in Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) to help improve upon their living conditions. The parliamentary aspirant commended Mr Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame for his immense contribution to the development of the constituency over the years, but said the time had come for the NPP to get a new leader to lead the party in its activities and therefore urged the delegates to vote massively for him during the primaries to enable him get the nod.
