NPP acid victim flown out

Peter Mensah, the Techiman North NPP Constituency Organiser who was bathed with acid by suspected NDC hoodlums, has been flown to Germany to undergo further medical treatment.

After an appeal was launched by Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, the National Chairman of the NPP for help to sponsor the victim, several sympathisers generously paid up to raise the money required for the treatment.

In an interview with Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi at the Kotoka International Airport, where he and other party officials went to see him off, he said even though the case was reported to the Techiman police, no arrest was made.

He seized the opportunity to thank all those who contributed in divers ways to make the trip possible.

It will be recalled that in the run-up to the 2012 election Mr Mensah, who represented Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi at a peace talk organised by the Methodist Church, was tailed by some assailants suspected to be NDC hooligans, who poured acid on him as he was driving home.

The two assailants, who were riding a motorbike, intercepted his car and splashed the acid on his face, blinding him in the process.
