Nothing wrong with Otumfuo using presidential jet – Ayariga

The Information Minister, Mahama Ayariga, says it is not out of the ordinary for the Asante Monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, or any other prominent Ghanaian, to use the Presidential Jet, if the president deems it fit.

His comment comes on the heels of a publication that Otumfuo Osei Tutu visited London recently in Ghana’s Presidential Jet.

But Mahama Ayariga speaking to XYZ News, said the presidential jet is a state property and any public officer is entitled to use it when the need arises.

The presidential jet is a state property and if there is the need for any particular person to use it, clearly the president can give authorization for any public person to use it.

“Even though it is a presidential jet, it is not out of the ordinary for any major public officer [to use it] when it becomes absolutely necessary; the president can grant a dispensation for them to use it”.

Hon. Mahama Ayariga, however, added that he is yet to confirm whether Otumfuo Osei Tutu II actually used the aircraft as it has widely been reported.
