Nothing will stop NPP in 2016 – Effah-Darteh

Captain (Rtd) Nkrabeah Effah-Darteh, aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) General-Secretary, has described the newly elected regional executives of the party as a hurricane which would lead the party to victory in 2016.

While congratulating them for emerging victorious in their respective bids, he said the new executives were the diligent personalities the NPP needed to rescue Ghanaians of their current economic predicament from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Captain Effah-Darteh spoke to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Koforidua on Wednesday.

He posited that such a hurricane would be “unstoppable” when the party elects him as General-Secretary in the upcoming National Delegates Congress to be held on regional basis in March. “Such a hurricane would be stronger and more forceful to capture power in 2016 from the NDC with someone like me in the stead as the Chief Scribe,” he said.

He said as a retired army officer who commanded troops and protected his men in war fronts, he, as General-Secretary, could effectively collaborate with party executives and members to diligently guide the NPP to victory.

According to Captain Effah-Darteh, the General-Secretary position “is not ceremonial but functional which needs a functional person like me to occupy it, considering my wealth of experience as a two-term Member of Parliament and a former Deputy Minister of State.” On his chances in the forthcoming national elections of the party, he said “I am winning hands down so my contenders should not bother themselves at all.”

He lauded those who were defeated in the regional elections for contributing to ensure a peaceful exercise throughout the regions, saying, “They have confirmed to Ghanaians that the NPP is never a violent or a divided party as some people tried to paint it.”
