Norviha donate to school

A GROUP of Ewe citizens (Norviha) based in the Unit¬ed Kingdom has donated library books to the Anlo Awoamefia Secondary School at Anyako in the Volta Region.

The consignment of 4000 assorted books was part of support for some of the underprivileged libraries and secondary schools in the region. Some of the schools and libraries that have already ben¬efited from the gesture are the Keta and Denu libraries, and the Anlo, Afiadenyigba, Keta, Adidome and Avenor-Dagbamate Secondary schools.

The President of Norviha UK, Mr B.B.K. Ayivor, who presented the books, said the group had plans to collect books and distribute them to all schools and libraries in the region.

He said the group, recognis¬ing the role of human resources to the country’s economy, would invest in the education of its children back in Ghana through donation of books and other educational materials.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr F. K. Kpodoh received the books and the Dufia of Anyako, Torgbui tengey Dzokota Gligui VI, thanked the group for its gesture. Mr Kpodo, used the opportu¬nity to highlight some of the problems bedevilling the school, such as lack of staff accommodation, students’ hos¬tels, absence of means of trans¬port and computers.

He commended the staff of the school for their hard work and dedication in spite of the teething problems and also thanked Mr. C.Y. Tay, a busi¬nessman, for single-handedly clearing the books from the harbour and carting them to the school.
