Northern region Sports Council to embark on talents hunt

Tamale, April 14, GNA – The Northern regional Sports Council is to organise a regional sports festival in May to select a regional team to represent the region at this year’s National Festival in Kumasi.

Mr Gabriel Missidey, Northern Regional Sports Development Officer, told the GNA in Tamale on Tuesday that the main objective of the regional festival was to hunt for the best players from all the districts to form a formidable team to represent the region.

He said the districts would compete in the various disciplines, including Juvenile Under-15 soccer, athletics and Volley Ball, and called on the districts to prepare adequately towards the games. Mr Missidey said committees had been set up to ensure the success of the regional festival, adding that the date for the commencement of the games would soon be communicated to the districts.
