Northern Region CPP chooses new executive

Tamale, July 4, GNA – The Northern Region Branch of the Convention people’s Party (CPP) has elected Alhaji Issah Zorro as new Chairman for a four-year term, according to an official statement issued by the branch on Monday.

The election took place at a regional delegates’ conference held at the Tamale Sports Stadium at the weekend to choose officers to manage affairs o= f the party in the region. Mr Alidu Mahama was declared unopposed as First Vice chairman while Mahama Iddrisu won the position of Second vice Chairman. Mr Iddrisu Mumuni was elected Secretary.

Mr Abdul Rahman Mohammed was elected Education Secretary while Mr Hamz= a Seidu won the position of Regional Organiser, Mr Iddrisu Musah, Treasurer and Alhaji Kwame Mutala Youth Organiser. The statement said on the advice of the Northern Regional Electoral Commission, the second round of election for Women’s Organizer was deferr= ed to a date to be announced later.

The contest will be between Hajia Imoro and Ms Sanatu Alhasan. Among those present were National Chairman and Leader of the party, Ladi Nylander, MP for Jomoro, Samia Nkrumah and former National Chairmen, Professor Abubakar Alhassan and Professor Edmund Delle.
