Northern Region, cool chop for Mahama in 2016 – Haruna Iddrisu

Member of Parliament for the Tamale South Constituency, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu says following developmental projects earmarked for the Northern Region, he is certain President Mahama will amass more votes in the region come 2016 elections.

“The developments mean that President Mahama can be certain of their absolute support in 2016. We should be working to recover the ten seats that we lost…and we take responsibility to identifying what the shortcomings were and to deal with them head on,” he stated.

President John Dramani Mahama Thursday jointly inaugurated the Regional offices of the National Health Insurance Authority and the National Communications Authority (NCA).

The inauguration formed part of the President’s two-day official visit to the Northern Region, where he inaugurated a 39.3 million- Euro state-of-the-art equipment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital to improve health delivery.

The President also cut sword for an additional 48-million-Euro project for the expansion of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

President Mahama announced that it is his expectation that all ten regions in the country will have at least a major regional hospital, indicating that work has commenced on the Wa Hospital in the Upper West Region.

The Tamale South MP is optimistic the projects will improve the leaving condition of people in the region.

“2013 was a challenging year but that notwithstanding, a number of major infrastructure interventions have taken place in the Northern Region, including a 300 community rural electrification project which is connecting several rural communities to the energy grid,” he noted.

The Minister of Trade and Industry also indicated that work on the Tamale International Airport is underway coupled with other road projects to make the region accessible.

Hon. Haruna Iddrisu said President Mahama remains focused and will deliver on his mandate.

Some dignitaries who are with the President include the Minister for Health, Shirley Ayitey, MP for Tamale Central, Hon. Inusah Fuseini, Alhaji Amadu Sorogo and other government officials.
