Northern musicians receive awarded

Tamale, June 28, GNA – Some musicians in the Northern Region have been honoured for their outstanding effort at peace building through their music. At an awards night dubbed “Peace Makers’ Night,” organized in Tamale by Tikuma Self-Help, an NGO to encourage musicians to impact positively on the lives of people, recognised musicians who preached peace and unity were and presented them with certificates of honour as part of their efforts at finding lasting peace in Dagbon.

Mr Yakubu Abdul-Razak, Director of the NGO said, ” My organization realizes the pivotal role music plays to a dying soul and thus, we have found it necessary to reward these category of musicians for their immense effort.” He said plans were far advanced to replicate the programme in other surrounding districts, such as Savelugu/Nanton, Tolon/Kumbungu, Yendi and Bimbilla and called for financial support from benevolent organizations. Some of the award winners treated the gathering to soul searching traditional music.
