Northern Ebola Isolation Center ready soon

The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) may be able to deal with any Ebola case if reported at the facility but could do so fully when the isolation center being arranged by the Ghana Health Service is ready.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Mr. Adam Fareed gave the assurance in exclusive interview with host of Might FM Morning Show, Shaibu Awudu.

The Ghana Health Service was tasked by the Health Ministry to establish special Isolation Centres to tackle any suspected case of Ebola. The isolation centres are to be situated in Tamale, Kumasi and Accra.

Mr Fareed told Might FM that work is progressing at the isolation center but added that “the Hospital can only take care of Ebola cases when the center is fully completed even though it has adequate personnel”.

The PRO pointed out that the Ghana Health Service has promised the facility delivery of Personal Protective Equipment (PPAs) to help the TTH carry out effective diagnosis and management of any suspected Ebola case. The isolation center which is nearing completion is to take care of Ebola cases in parts of the Brong-Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and the Upper West Regions of Ghana.
