Nongovernmental organisation monitors use of capitation grant

Nkoranza (B/A), Dec. 27 GNA – Members of Nkoranza District Education For All Team have begun visiting schools to interact with opinion leaders and school authorities to ascertain the impact of the capitation grant scheme.

Mr Kyere Boateng, a member of the team, told Ghana News Agency that the team had visited 20 basic schools since the exercise began last week. He explained that the Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition, a nongovernmental organisation, initiated the exercise to ensure that the capitation grants were judiciously used in promoting education. Mr Boateng called on heads of schools to keep accurate records on the grants to guide external auditors, who would be visiting the schools to assess the utilization of the grants.
