Non-performing Head teachers to be sanctioned

Begoro, June 15, GNA – The Fanteakwa District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) is to embark on a staff rationalisation exercise in schools to improve on teaching and learning. The District Director of Education, Ms Mary Animwah who announced this at a meeting with circuit supervisors of the GES at Begoro on Wednesday said non-performing Head teachers would be demoted and made to serve under their performing subordinates in the same school or would be transferred outright.

She said some head teachers were so weak that they could hardly control their staff and noted that some teachers too had overstayed their stations and had become archaic and could not contribute effectively to teaching and learning.

She said teachers who had spent between 15 and 20 years at their stations would be transferred.

Ms Animwah urged the circuit supervisors to intensify their supervision and recommend over-stayed teachers for transfer and lazy head teachers for appropriate sanctions.
