Non-governmental organization donates to Nsawam Prisons

Nsawam (E/R), Nov. 17, GNA – Passion for Needy, a charitable organization, on Tuesday donated items worth GHC¢4,142.00 to the inmates of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison. The items, which were distributed equally between the male and the female prisons, included two digital satellite receivers, two 32-inch plasma television sets, 20 packets of toilets rolls, 10 cartons of washing soap and 10 cartons of detergent.

Presenting the items Mrs. Janet Torgbor El-Askar, Co-chairman of Passion for Needy, said the organization decided to make the donation so that the inmates could view educative television programmes.

Receiving the items Deputy Superintendent of Prisons Samuel Adzewodoh thanked the organisation for the donation and appealed to other charitable organizations to emulate them. Mrs. El-Askar mentioned the payment of fees of some needy students and the payment of hospital bills for defaulting patients at the Ridge and Korle Bu Teaching hospitals as some of the activities of the organization since it was formed in August.
