Nominations open for N/R GJA election

Tamale, Oct. 05, GNA – Nominations for elections to executive positions of the Northern Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA) will open from Friday, October 6 to Friday, October 13, 2006.

A statement issued in Tamale on Wednesday and signed by Mr Alhassan Imoro, out-going Regional Chairman, said positions to be contested for are: Chairman; Vice-Chairman; Secretary; Assistant Secretary and Treasurer.

The statement said candidates vying for executive positions should be full members of the GJA for at least, three years.

It named Mr Edward Ameyibor, General Manager of Diamond “FM” Station, as the Elections Assistant to conduct the poll and directed interested candidates to contact him for nomination forms. The statement indicated that non-refundable nomination fees for positions to be contested are: Chairman and Vice-Chairman, 200,000 cedis; Secretary, 150,000 cedis; Assistant Secretary and Treasurer, 100,000 cedis each.

The election had delayed due to circumstances beyond control, the statement said.
