The Headmaster of Accra High Secondary School, Mr Asiedu Kissiedu on Wednesday turned away about 50 parents and guardians of JSS candidates seeking admission for their wards.
“Who should I drop and admit who? My school has reached the number needed and cannot go beyond that,” Mr Kissiedu told the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
He said even if a parent is coming to him with aggregate six, that child would not be taken.
Mr. Kissiedu said, for those students who would not be able to obtain admission, it would not have been the fault of the head of any second cycle school.
“There is actually no vacancy; the schools need to be expanded. The children have performed marvellously this year. Even some of the students who chose Accra High could not get admission.”
He said admission continues until the middle of November and appealed to parents to exercise restraint, so that if some of the students fail to report, their places would be given to those on the waiting list.
Mr. Kissiedu said about 2,000 candidates applied to the school and 360 were offered admission.
