Half Assini (W/R) Jan. 29, GNA – Mr Kwesi Blay, Deputy Western Regional Minister, last weekend said there was no shortage of pre-mix fuel in the region.
He said pre-mix fuel was available at most designated fuel stations, however, some fuel stations authorised to sell pre-mix had been closed down because they owed some Oil Marketing Companies (OMC). Mr Blay announced this when addressing the Jubilee Peoples’ Assembly at Half Assini in the Jomoro District. He said the Western Regional Coordinating Council would institute measures to check the sale of pre-mix fuel.
Mr Blay warned dealers against selling pre-mix fuel above the control price and creating artificial shortage because offenders would be prosecuted.
Mr Anthony Evans Amoah, Western Regional Minister, cautioned the people against taking the law into their own hands and warned that the law would deal with offenders.
He announced that equipment for electrification projects in six communities in the district had arrived and work would begin soon. Mr Amoah said Half Assini Senior Secondary School would be upgraded and the district would benefit from a water project.
Mr Martin Ackah, Jomoro District Chief Executive, said since 2001, the assembly had completed 38 projects in education, 18 in health, 18 social services projects and 24 in sanitation.
He said Jomoro District Directorate of Education received about 891,521,080 cedis as Capitation Grant for 2006.
