No peace for anyone who buys Achimota School land – Prof. Ernest Aryeetey
The President of the Old Achimotan Association, Professor Ernest Aryeetey has said that anyone who attempts to buy or engage in any form of commercial activity in relation to Achimota SHS lands will not find peace.
He made this statement at a press conference on November 3, 2017, at the Accra International Press Centre.
Expressing his displeasure at the dangers associated with the encroachment of the school’s land, Professor Aryeetey argued that the selling of lands belonging to institutions is illegal and should be shunned.
“Individuals who buy Achimota School land, we will do our best to make them feel as bad as possible. The whole idea is, anybody who buys Achimota School land should never find peace,” he emphasized.
He stated that individuals or business entities who intend to invest in the buying or selling of Achimota School lands will be duly sanctioned.
“If a bank in the UK or South Africa or wherever knows that you are funding an illegal act in Ghana, they distance themselves from you. So, we will do our best to have the banks blacklisted for supporting investments on Achimota School lands,” he cautioned.
He also said that the student body, as well as the alumni, will be sensitized on the issue so that even when they, the current Board retire, their successors will continue the fight for the school’s land.
