No Official Approach from Nketiah, Hudson-Odoi or Amuzu To Play For Ghana – Dr. Randy Abbey

Black Stars Management Committee Chairman, Dr Randy Abbey, has clarified that there has been no official communication from Eddie Nketiah, Callum Hudson-Odoi, or Francis Amuzu expressing interest in representing Ghana at the international level.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Dr Abbey revealed that while reports linking the trio to the Ghana national team continue to circulate in the media, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not received any formal indication from the players or their representatives.

“Officially, I’m not aware of Eddie Nketiah showing interest in the Black Stars. It’s the same for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Francis Amuzu. I only read about it in the media,” Dr Abbey stated.

All three players, who have Ghanaian roots have been the subject of public debate over potential switches to the Black Stars, especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching.

Eddie Nketiah, currently with Crystal Palace, has represented England at youth level; Callum Hudson-Odoi, who now plays for Nottingham Forest, has featured for the England senior team; while Francis Amuzu of Anderlecht has previously been linked to Ghana but is yet to make a senior international commitment.

Dr Abbey’s comments appear to cool speculation about imminent nationality switches, though the GFA remains open to welcoming eligible players who express genuine interest in representing Ghana.

The Black Stars are expected to begin preparations for upcoming international fixtures later this year, with eyes firmly set on the World Cup.
