No Nana, no vote – NPP UK branch chants

Members of the UK branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) say they will not vote in the 2016 elections if the party’s two-time presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is not made flagbearer for the third consecutive time.

Chanting “No Nana No Vote”, NPP’s UK supporters made their feelings known when the former Attorney General attended a general meeting held by the branch Sunday November 24, 2013 at the Dominion Centre, Wood Green, North London.

Accompanying Nana Akufo-Addo were former Mayor of Accra, Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson, former Minister for Water Resources, Work and Housing, Hackman Owusu Agyeman, and MP for Akim Abuakwa North, JB Danquah Adu.

Special pleas were made by the group to Nana Akufo-Addo to reconsider his decision to postpone the announcement of his intention on whether to remain in front line politics or take a backstage position in the party until he returned to Ghana.

Nana Akufo-Addo expressed his appreciation to the party’s UK branch, the Young Executive Forum, and Nana Ladies UK, stating that he was very honoured and appreciative of the calls for him to return to front line politics.

He said in the last six years he had not had a break from politics and therefore felt the need for a break after the 2012 presidential election petition.

He pleaded with members of the UK branch to respect one another and remain calm during the party’s forthcoming internal elections and join hands in unity to ensure that the contests are carried out in a dignified fashion.

“I am sure you all know what is happening in Ghana. The mismanagement of the country’s economy has left the economy in disarray; the NPP remains the only hope for Ghanaians,” he said.
