No more asylums for Ghanaians in France

Accra, May 12, GNA – The French Government on Thursday said it has withdrawn Ghana from the list of countries whose nationals qualified to be granted asylum.

In a statement, Mrs Martha Pobee, Acting Director of Information Culture and Linguistic Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the decision was due to the stable political climate prevailing in the country and the effective functioning of the nation’s democratic institutions.

Prospective migrants to France are, however, advised to refrain from making false declarations and claims about Ghana in their quest for entry visa.

The statement noted that such claims were not only counterproductive and unpatriotic but they were likely to be rejected by the French authorities in the light of Ghana’s current positive international image.
