‘No light, no vote’ – Kordjokrom NDC

Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a village called Korjokrom in the Tano South Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region have threatened to boycott the December polls if their Member of Parliament, Dr Hanna Bissiw, who is also a member of the party and the District Chief Executive, fail to fulfill a promise to provide them with electricity.

Mr James Banturi, a Constituency Executive of the party told Chief Jerry Forson on Accra100.5FM’s breakfast Show Ghana Yensom on Friday, 23 September that Dr Bissiw has failed to honour a lot of promises she made to the people of Kordjokrom ahead of the 2012 polls.

“She didn’t even come here to say thank you after she won the elections. She has really disgraced me,” Mr Banturi complained, adding that Dr Bissiw has on several occasions promised to provide the people of Kordjokrom with amenities and utilities but has failed to make good on any of those promises.

Apart from the lack of electricity in the area, the people of Kordjokrom also say they need toilets and jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.

Mr Banturi told Chief Jerry Forson that they will rescind their boycott decision if Dr Bissiw and the DCE accede to their demands.
