Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly called ‘Sir John,’ has ruled out any legal action after the declaration of results of the 2016 general elections.
Addressing thousands of people that took part in the recent ‘Yabre’ demonstration in Kumasi, Sir John chastised the NDC administration for allowing corruption and hardship to flourish in the country.
He stated categorically that the NPP would record a resounding victory in the first round of the 2016 general elections, “so there won’t be the need to go to court.”
Sir John therefore charged NPP members to start a vigorous campaign for their party in order to ensure an overwhelming victory in the next elections.
He admonished the NPP members to always highlight the tribulations and insurmountable challenges currently facing the citizenry due to the mismanagement of the country’s economy by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on a daily basis.
Sir John also entreated the party’s members to take their time to explain the better policies and programmes of the NPP to improve the lives of the populace.
According to him, daily interactions in offices, bus terminals, markets, churches and mosques would enable most people to properly understand the NPP’s agenda to develop Ghana.
The ex-NPP scribe noted that, even though, the NPP would win the 2016 elections, the expectant victory would not come on a silver platter, urging party members to work hard for the NPP.
He said the NPP government, under the competent leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, would tackle corruption and also introduce programmes and policies to better the lives of the citizenry.
Sir John stressed that the power crisis, known in local parlance as ‘Dumsor,’ which the NDC administration had failed to resolve, would be addressed when the NPP captures power.
According to him, addressing ‘dumsor’ and the economic challenges facing the country requires knowledge, political will and proper planning, but not just political rhetoric and empty promises.
Sir John said after suffering for eight years under the NDC government, the electorate would vote massively for the NPP in order to fix the ailing economy and better their lives.
