No Births And Deaths Officials In Three B/A Districts

Three Districts in the Brong Ahafo region have in the last couple of years been able to compile accurate records of deaths and births that took place outside health institution.

This is because the departments of births and deaths at Sene, Atebubu and Asutifi districts have no staff at all to collate such data.

The situation is the result of a general shortage of manpower, which is affecting the department?s operations.

As a result of the unavailability of births and deaths Registration of Officials, only births and deaths recorded in health institutions go on record, leaving unattended, those at home and traditional births attendants

The Brong Ahafo regional births and deaths officer, Sampson Achiri. Bangni, who made these know to SPACE FM, described the current situation as a set back to the country?s development process.

He said the unavailability of up-to-date bio statistics has the potential of derailing the planning process at the local level for socio economic developments.

The registration officer has called on the Government to as a matter of urgency, address the department?s dire manpower needs together with its poor logistics situation.
