Mr Richard Asensu, Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Electoral Officer, at the weekend assured Ghanaians that no authority could control or interfere in the work of Electoral Commission towards Election 2012.
He urged stakeholders to endeavour to play the roles expected of them effectively and efficiently to ensure a successful election.
Mr Asensu gave the assurance at a forum organised by Progressive Excellence Youth , a non-governmental organisation and funded by Star Ghana, a multi-donor organisation on the theme: “Promoting health rights and accountability in a peaceful 2012 elections.”
Mr Daniel Abawana, Assistant Civic Education Officer of the National Commission for Civic Education, asked Ghanaians to seek the interest of the nation first as there is only one Ghana of which every ethnic group belongs to.
“Even though we may have different political affiliations, all political parties are within the confines of the Constitution which is supreme to all the laws of the land” he added.
Mr Abawana said, leaders of the two main political parties- New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress should advice their followers to desist from all acts of violence.**
