No action plan, no funds – GES Officer

The Ghana Education Service (GES) would not release funds to headteachers and headmasters who do not back their action plans with convincing information to organise workshops and other training programmes for their teachers.

The GES would however provide adequate funds and assistance to headteachers and headmasters who draw up good plans with workable strategies to improve the standards of their students.

Mrs Scholastica Gbiele, Wa District Director of Education, was speaking at the close of a two-day workshop for 52 Primary and Junior Secondary School teachers.

She said the workshop was aimed at broadening the horizon of teachers to enable them to improve upon their abilities.

Mrs Gbiele called on teachers to work hard to ensure that their pupils and students benefit pass their examinations and become responsible adults.

“Children need solid foundation in education and the workshop for teachers will help them to acquire enough knowledge.”

The workshop was organised by Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).

Mr Martin Asamnaba, Regional GNAT Secretary, gave the assurance that more of such courses would be organised to sharpen the skills of teachers.
