NMC mourns with Ghanaians

The National Media Commission (NMC) has joined millions of Ghanaians in mourning the untimely death of President John Evans Atta Mills.

A letter addressed to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere said: “His demise is a great loss to the nation but we trust and hope Ghana will pass through these difficult times stronger, more united and stable.”

The statement said: “The NMC has the honour and privilege to meet and interact with the late President on two memorable occasions, during which we discussed and shared concerns about the state of the media in Ghana, agreeing on the need for media freedom and also corresponding accountability and professionalism.

“It is our determination to fulfill the lofty ideals we shared with the late President for Journalism of excellence and relevance to our developmental goals”.

It take the opportunity to pray for the guidance and wisdom of God as President Mahama undertakes the onerous responsibility of leading the nation at this unexpected difficult period in Ghana history.

The statement said: “Your Excellency, please accept the assurance of our consideration and condolences”.**
