Nkwanta DCE makes SOS appeal to GHA over bad roads

Nkwanta (V/R), Sept. 6, GNA – Mr Joseph Denteh, Nkwanta District Chief Executive (DCE), has sent an urgent message to the Ministry of Roads and Highways and the Ghana Highway Authority to help refurbish the road network in the District.

He told the Ghana News Agency that heavy and persistent rains had made many portions of the roads impassable. Mr Denteh named some of the roads as Koto-Nkwanta, Abrubruwa-Brewenease, Salifukrom-Nkwanta and Kpassa-Damanko, Kadjebi-Nkwanta and Pepesu-Nkwanta roads. He said what was making the issue more precarious was that broken down heavy trucks carrying food items, others involved in accidents as result of the bad nature of the road were impeding movement of other vehicles.

The Jasikan-Nkwanta-Kpassa road is the shortest route to the north and an important and major route for food supply to the south. Mr Denteh said the District Assembly was carrying out some remedial work but its progress was being hindered by the lack of financial resources and equipment. He said something needed to be done about the situation as early as possible or the area could be cut off from the rest of the country. 06 Sept. 07
