Nkrumah Rising’s Press Release

NKRUMAH RISING PRAISES CPP AND PNC EXECUTIVES IN THE NORTHEN REGION FOR THEIR
SUPPORT OF THE JUST-ENDED EDUCATIONAL TOUR OF THE NORTHERN REGION TOWARDS THE
UNIFICATION OF THE TWO PARTIES

Nkrumah Rising expressed its thanks to all the Regional and Constituency
Executives of the two Nkrumaist political parties, the CPP and the PNC, and the
major Nkrumaist opinion leaders who received them during their just concluded
tour of the Northern Region.

Nkrumah Rising’s tour was a collaborative effort between themselves and the
Northern Regional Executives of the CPP and PNC with the objective of
concretizing last month’s public declaration on unity by educating the
constituents on how to operate as a single political party through the process
of “learning by doing”. This followed last month’s public declaration and
commitment by the regional and constituency executives of both parties to work
towards unity.

A joint-select team from the regional offices of the PNC and CPP, assisted by
Nkrumah Rising, embarked on an educational tour throughout the entire 26
constituencies of the Northern Region to achieve this.

On the ground the team observed that in some constituencies both the
constituency executives and the public did not see any difference between the
two parties. In other constituencies the team encountered incidents where one
individual held executive positions in both parties with the consent of the
other executives. What was remarkable was that these executives didn’t see
anything remarkable about it since both parties identified with Nkrumah and his
ideas. In other words, they felt ‘at home’ ideologically in either party. They
did however lament that if they could field one Parliamentary candidate, they
could enhance their chances of winning the seat. As they begin to work together
they expect their support base to grow and many of those that have drifted to
the other parties to return.

Overall, Nkrumah Rising was astonished by the immense sense of frustration at
the continued decline of both parties, the strong enthusiasm for unification and
the firm determination to win political power instead of “topping-up” the votes
of the other political parties.

Nkrumah Rising extends its’ sincere gratitude to the Executives who facilitated
our work and trusts that our collective efforts will not be in vain.

Nkrumah Rising is an organization composed of CPP and PNC elements that has as
one of it’s mandates the goal of creating sufficient internal pressure at the
grassroots level within both the PNC and CPP to bring about the total
unification of the two political parties. Nkrumah Rising eschews the top-down
approach that has been favoured and unsuccessful in efforts to achieve unity
between the two political parties, since 1992.It believes that any meaningful
and ultimately successful attempt at unity must involve the effective
participation of the grassroots. Since September 2009, its travelling team has
been moving across parts of the country to awaken the grassroots to the power
they have to do two things: firstly, to take the initiative in the efforts to
unite; and secondly to assist by various means the leadership of the PNC and CPP
to implement the will of the grassroots by uniting the two political parties.
Nkrumah Rising invites all genuine Nkrumaists to support these efforts to bless
the legal union between the CPP and the PNC.
