Nkroranza, Wenchi Youth Attend Woroskhop On Farm Networking

Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 21, – Farmers selected from the Rural Youth Association (RYA) from Wenchi and Nkoranza districts have attended a workshop on farmers’ networking and gender issues in rural youth associations at Nkoranza. The workshop, the first of its kind for rural youth farmers association in the Brong Ahafo region, was organised by the National Youth Association to equip farmers with modern methods of farming and to identify problems facing rural farmers. Topics discussed include organic manure and pest control, mushroom production, banking, gender issues, women problems in agriculture and income generating activities. Mrs Theresa Nyarko Fofie, MP for Nkoranza and national coordinator of RYA, said women are at a disadvantage in equal opportunities in education, employment and ownership of assets. As a result, they have fewer opportunities; they face greater hardship in freeing themselves and their family from the poverty scare.
