The youth of Nkoranza Municipality on Saturday reversed a curse they invoked on the Municipal Electoral Commission (EC), compelling it to suspend the just-ended District Level Election (DLE) in Nkoranza North and South.
The ceremony was performed in front of the Municipal Office of the EC, minutes after the end of the 10th National Sanitation Day at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
The members of the Nkoranza Youth Association, led by Nana Kwabena Nyarko, their leader, slaughtered a sheep and used eggs to perform certain rituals to signify the prevention of the consequences that was expected to follow the curse.
Nana Nyarko, who is also one of the linguists of Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom the fourth, Paramount Chief of Nkoranza Traditional Area, explained that their decision to reverse the curse was in response to the intervention of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC).
He however, said the decision was temporal, stressing that, they would invoke the curse again if the Bank of Ghana (BoG) refused to intervene on their behalf to get back their monies deposited with some micro finance companies and fun clubs in the Region.
It would be recalled that following security reports received by the REGSEC on the operations of six micro-finance companies and fun clubs, it organised a meeting on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 with the Managements of those companies and other stakeholders to brief the REGSEC on issues that had been raised by the BoG with them and the subsequent outcry by their customers.
The companies are DKM Diamond Micro-finance, God is Love Fun Club, Jastar Motors and Investments Company Limited, Little Drops Association, Care for Humanity and Eye Adom Fun Club.
The meeting was attended by some stakeholders and Managements of six micro-finance companies and fun clubs whose operations have created financial problems for their customers.
The stakeholders included officials from BoG, Mr. Emmanuel Agyekum, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South and a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, traditional rulers and members of the Municipal and District Security Councils of Sunyani, Nkoranza South, Berekum and Nkoranza North, where those companies are operating.
The meeting discussed how the Companies could pay their clients to resolve the financial crisis
