Nkoranza Traditional Council to honour outstanding citizens

Nkoranza (B/A) Sept. 28 GNA – The Nkoranza Traditional Council is to honour some deserving citizens during the annual ‘Munufie Kese’ Yam festival for their meritorious services to the development of the district.

Okatakyie Agyemang-Kudom IV, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area announced this at a meeting with his divisional chiefs and elders at his palace.

He said a number of people from all walks of life including dignitaries would be invited to grace the occasion. Mr James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, District Chief Executive, called on the Nananom to promote love, unity and understanding among the people to enhance the development of the communities.

He bemoaned the high number of chieftaincy disputes in the district and called on the Omanhene to help resolve them to enable the people to live in harmony to initiate development programmes to improve their living conditions.

The DCE urged the chiefs to educate the people to take advantage of the government’s free education programme and enrol their children in school.

Mr. Appiah-Awuah called on the chiefs to team up with Assembly Members and Unit committees to organise the people for self-help projects so as to attract support from the government and non-governmental bodies. Mr. Kwabena Agyemang Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, said that the directorate had bought sets of band instruments for distribution to basic schools in the district. He advised parents to enrol their children in schools.
