Nkoranza Technical Institute poised to offer skill training

Nkoranza (BA), Aug. 13, GNA – Mr Albert Adusei, Principal of the Nkoranza Technical Institute in Brong-Ahafo, has urged parents to encourage their children to take up vocational courses that would readily guarantee employment upon completion.

Mr Adusei, who was briefing newsmen on admission procedures at the institute, said about 150 students would be admitted September this year to undertake courses in auto-mechanic, masonry, carpentry and joinery, electrical, mechanical engineering and craft work.

He said students entering the Nkoranza Technical Institute, the only technical institution in Brong-Ahafo, must have the same aggregate of grades required for the Senior High Schools.

Mr Adusei said the school yet to enter into its second year in September this year, now had about 70 students undertaking the abovementioned courses.

He appealed to parents to enrol their wards at the institute and offer them the necessary support to acquire employable skills that would enable them establish their own businesses. Mr Adusei said graduands of the school could further their education at the country’s polytechnics and the training colleges to become more useful human resource to the nation. He also appealed to teachers, assembly members, traditional rulers, unit committees and the town councillors in Nkoranza North and South Districts to canvass for more students to enrol in the school. Mr Adusei announced that professional certificate courses have also been designed for artisans such as masons, carpenters, fitters and mechanics and urged all interested person to enrol.
