Nkoranza South MP offers scholarship to needy students

Nkoranza (B/A), Nov. 30, GNA – Mr Kwame Amporfo-Twumasi, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South has offered 30 million cedis scholarship scheme for the benefit of brilliant but needy students attending senior secondary shools in the area.

Twenty million cedis out of the amount would go to Nkoranza citizens at Nkoranza Secondary/Technical School, whilst the rest would be spent on other citizens at other secondary schools outside the district.

Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education announced this when he addressed the staff and students of Sessiman Junior Secondary School at Nkoranza, as part of a working visit to the school.

He expressed appreciation for the efforts of Mr Amporfo-Twumasi, in promoting education in the district and called on JSS students to take their education seriously to qualify and benefit from the scheme at the SSS level.

The director advised the students to be respectful, submissive and obedient to their teachers and parents.

Mr Agyemang-Badu cautioned the students against truancy, absenteeism and lateness, which he said could adversely affect their education.

The District Director called on the beneficiaries of the MP’s scholarship scheme to study hard to achieve their aims in education, so that the resources spent on them would not be waste.

He appealed to teachers serving in the district to redouble efforts to help improve the low standard of education in the area. Mr Agyemang-Badu asked parents to establish cordial relationship with the teachers to ensure discipline among the students. He appealed to executives of School Management Committees, Parent-Teacher- Associations and opinion leaders to pay regular visits to schools to encourage teachers and also to help in addressing their problems.
