Nkoranza Assembly requested to assist in rehabilitating school

Tankor (B/A), April 12, GNA – Residents of Tankor in Nkoranza area have appealed to the District Assembly to assist the community to rehabilitate the local Methodist primary school, which was at the verge of collapse.

Mr John Worae, Unit Committee Chairman of the area, told the GNA at Tankor at the weekend that since the building was constructed in 1968, there had not been any renovation work on it. He said the roofs of the school block were very weak and only hanging and could be ripped off by wind.

Mr Worae said the community recently raised 1.5 million cedis through contributions to provide doors and windows for the rehabilitation of the building. He said the people were ready to provide communal labour for the renovation.

Mr Worae commended the Government for connecting the area to the National Electricity grid under the Community Self-Help Electrification Programme (SHEP) to enhance the development of the area. He appealed to non-resident citizens to visit home regularly to assist the development of the town.

Mr Worae also thanked Mr Daniel Kwame Damoah, a businessman, for providing the community with five street bulbs towards the electrification project.

Mr Damoah had also constructed a hotel in the town to provide accommodation for tourists to the Buabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary. 12 April 04
