The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) wishes to inform the general public that the Backyard Poultry for Nutrition and Livelihoods (Nkoko Nketenkete) initiative will be officially launched by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, together with Hon. Eric Opoku, Member of Parliament, on Wednesday, 12th November, 2025, at the Jubilee Park, Kumasi, beginning at 12:00 p.m. prompt.
The Nkoko Nketenkete Initiative seeks to promote household poultry keeping as a means of improving nutrition, enhancing food security, and supporting sustainable livelihoods across communities.
As part of the launch, there will be a distribution of up to fifty (50) live birds per applicant for individuals who have applied for home poultry rearing. Interested persons are encouraged to submit applications through their respective District or Municipal Assemblies.
Special arrangements are being made for those who have registered for commercial-scale poultry production, including technical and logistical support.
The general public is cordially invited to attend and support this important initiative aimed at empowering households, creating jobs, and promoting food self-sufficiency.
