Nkawie Senior High/Technical School scores 96 per cent in WASSCE

Nkawie (Ash), March 24, GNA – The Nkawie Senior High/Technical School in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District recorded a 96 per cent pass in the 2007 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Out of 513 students presented for the examination, 289 students passed in eight subjects, 135 also passed in seven subjects while 68 obtained pass in six subjects. There was however no failure but two absentees was recorded. Mr Prince Joseph Aguri-Amanfo, Headmaster of the school, said this at the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting at Nkawie. He said the school, in collaboration with the PTA, had initiated some projects and these include the construction of a three-storey boys’ dormitory block, three-unit classroom block and a water project. The school has moulded 5,000 blocks to begin work on an additional girls’ dormitory block and is undertaking a cattle project. Mr Joseph Kessie, chairman of the PTA, commended both the teaching and non-teaching staff for their contribution towards the achievement of greater heights for the school. He called on parents to contribute financially to complement work on the school’s water project.
