NJTC launches 125th anniversary of settlement

Koforidua, Nov 14, GNA – The New Juaben Traditional Council on Friday launched a weeklong celebration in commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the people’s settlement in New Juaben in 1878. Activities planned for the ceremony include customary performance at Suhyen to signify traditional entry into New Juaben 125 years ago, clean up exercise, seminar and the presentation of Daasebre Award for Excellence to deserving individuals and organisations.

Launching the celebration at a press conference at Koforidua Bafour Adjei Tuffour, the Krontihene, said the celebration would be climaxed on November 23 by a grand durbar of chiefs and people.

He said the Akwantukese festival would not be celebrated this year in view of the significance of the 125th anniversary of migration.
