Nine MMDCEs so far confirmed in Central Region

Asikuma (C/R), May 3, GNA – Three more District Chief Executives were on Thursday confirmed by their respective assemblies, bringing to nine the total number of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) so far confirmed in the Central Region. There are 17 districts in the Region. The three who were confirmed on Thursday included Madam Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, a 49-year old educationist, for the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) District Assembly.

Madam Aboah, who was the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate in the 2008 elections, got 41 out of the 42 ballots cast. One ballot was rejected. Also approved was 47-year-old businesswoman, Madam Sabina Appiah Kubi, for Assin South. She polled 27 out of the 32 votes cast while Mr Alex Antwi-Bosiako, 50, an employee of the Assin Fosu Agricultural Development Bank had all 36 members of the Assin North district assembly voting for him.

Those approved earlier were Mr Anthony Egyir Aikins for the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, Mr Kofi Ashia and Mrs Yankey Ackah for Upper Denkyira East and Upper Denkyira West, respectively. The rest are Mr Joseph Foster Andoh for Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, Mr Nuhu Kofi Adams for Awutu-Senya and Mr Theophilus Aidoo Mensah for Gomoa West. The elections, supervised by the regional officers of the Electoral Commission, had so far been peaceful.
