Nine communities to experience eclipse in Hohoe district

Hohoe, March 27, GNA – Nine communities in the Hohoe District would experience the total solar eclipse of the sun on Wednesday, March 29. The communities are Akpafu-Odomi, Akpafu-Mempeasem and Akpafu-Sokpo, Alavanyo-Kpeme, Alavanyo-Wudidi and Alavanyo-Abehenease, Likpe-Kukurantumi, Likpe-Abrani and Lolobi Kumase.

Mr John Hobenu, the Hohoe District Director of Education, told the He said circulars have also been dispatched to schools in those communities to keep children indoors until after the period while massive awareness programmes are being undertaken for parents and other members of the society.

Mr John Peter Amewu, the Hohoe District Chief Executive, said the special goggles are on sale at the assembly and other social joints in the district.

He appealed to people in the district to be wary of the dangers associated with watching the rays with improvised materials or with the naked eye.

Meanwhile, sections of the public are torn between the spiritual and scientific nature of the eclipse.

To some the eclipse would be the handiwork of God signifying the second coming of Jesus Christ and marking the sign of the end times and therefore a good omen and to others the phenomenon is purely scientific and should be considered as such.
